Episode 83: There Goes the Neighborhood

Lankhmar is huge! Thousands of people dwell within the eleven quarters that make up the City of Sevenscore Thousand Smokes. Anyone new to town is bound to run into some issues. Were you meeting with that fence to offload some newfound treasures tonight at the corner of Carter Street and Cash Street? …or was that Carter and Crafts Street? Or was it that alleyway just off the corner, between those abandoned shops? On the other side of the table — judges, the party may be looking for a place to lay low for a few weeks after barely escaping some dicey carousing results, but you don’t have any locales in mind from the modules you’ve gone over thus far.

Fear not! We’ve imported “Keeper” Bob Brinkman from the Sanctum Secorum podcast to show us how easy it is to give your players what they (and you) need. While working on the Lankhmar setting, he ran the campaign playtest almost entirely as a sandbox, and gave the community the resulting fully fleshed-out neighborhood. He’s here today to go over the last of the 3 source books in the Lankhmar boxed set with us, and we’re going to start a neighborhood map together!

  1. Judge Mathieu says:

Great episode! Having not read any Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser books yet, I wasn’t interested in this DCC product. But now that I have heard what it’s all about. Basically Hex Crawling in a city… I’m really intrigued! Once it makes it’s way to the Goodman Games store I might just pick one up. Thanks!
